In November 2017 Jonathan joined the District Attorney’s Office for the 9th Judicial District (Roane, Loudon, Morgan, and Meigs) whereby he handles primarily all felonies for Roane and Morgan County Criminal Courts primarily focusing on violent crimes, property crimes, and drug cases in Morgan County.  Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office, Jonathan graduated the prestigious National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. Jonathan was a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Association for Justice.  Jonathan Edwards was born and raised in East Tennessee. After graduating high school, Jonathan attended Tennessee Technological University.  Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.  While in college, Jonathan was a member of the Moot Court team, Mortar Board, Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society and was the President of the Pre-Law Society.  Jonathan went on to attend law school at Michigan State University. While at Michigan State University, Jonathan served as a Teaching Assistant in Equity for Professor of Law Emeritus, Clark Johnson.  Additionally, Jonathan worked as a Student Public Defender with the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  All while maintaining academic standing on the Dean’s List.  Upon graduating from law school in 2013 and admission to the bar, Jonathan returned to Knoxville, Tennessee to begin work at a firm primarily focusing on criminal defense. After a year at the Knoxville law firm, Jonathan went on to work in Oak Ridge handling criminal defense cases until he joined the District Attorney’s Office.
